Tree Table

This idea is a table out of a tree in its natural form, "Tree Table".

Find a nice big log that you fancy for the base and some branches for the top.

Remove bark from your log and sand it down. I start with 40, move to 80, 120, then 220. When its all spruced up you will want to slap a clear coat on her for viewing pleasure.

Now this was the tricky part and patience is a must. Since trees usually aren't flat, and yes I did try and run one threw a planer, a different time though, I decided to fabricate one. After trying several different ways I finally decided that in order for it to be completely flat, I've must do one branch at a time. Find a board to build a tree on, preferably a square or circle one without cuts taking out of it. Mitering each angle and finding a spot for it to look natural, I used duct tape and wood glue to hold each branch in place.

I used multiple tools for flattening the wood, mostly a hand planer and belt sander. As before I used 40 grit to 220 grit sandpaper. In the pictures some wood was planed and some not because I'm was impatient and wanted to see how it was going to look, nut all flattening could be done at the end after glue has dried.

After piecing in the missing cuts from my board, I cut the tree into an oval shape for my tabletop.

The tabletop is now ready to hop on the base. After placing it on top I then put on trim which I used some hand carved Diamond Willow. I carved these a while back and had them soaking in water to shape for trim. I drilled holes and used screws and wood putty with trip. I used a wood clear coat 1st for the trim and branches, then sealed the inside around trim with caulking to get ready for rocks and clear coat.

I used river rocks for the table and arranged as pleased. Once satisfied with how it looked your ready for pour on. Ufda chillin in the back again just loves helpin me with projects as long as she gets to sit on her butt.

I used screws to attach the tabletop to base and woolah headache is finally over..almost. There is lights in the table also. I left that out of the instructable because it's not 100% fully functional atm and not really necessary but I'll get it taken care of.. hopefully.
