Nana’s Ice Cream Pie
Summer birthdays mean Nana’s Ice Cream Pie! But really any day is good for this pie. With just a few ingredients and a little bit of time you will find it super easy! And who doesn’t love a sugary, crunchy dessert? Did I mention the homemade chocolate syrup for a topping? Yes, please indulge.
Supplies
Pie plate
Mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
Hand mixer
Small pan
Ice Cream Pie - Gather Your Ingredients
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
3 cups corn flakes
1 cup chopped nuts, I used pecans
1 cup coconut
1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
Beat
Beat together margarine and brown sugar until fluffy.
Stir In
Add cornflakes, chopped nuts and coconut. Stir well.
Press in Pan
Press 2/3 of the mixture into pie pan to form crust. Reserve the rest for the topping.
Spread on Top
Spread vanilla ice cream on top of corn flake crust.
Add Topping
Spread the remaining cornflake mixture on top of the ice cream and press in with your hand.
Freeze until firm.
Chocolate Syrup - Gather Ingredients
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cocoa powder
dash of salt
Stir
Add all ingredients together in small pan. Stir continuously over low heat until mixture thickens.
Serve immediately drizzled over a slice of ice cream pie or refrigerate until ready.
