NYC REC CENTER - Makeitreal Contest

At the NYC REC Center you will be greeted with a service of care and respect like you have never experienced. The COVID-19 safety protocols will make you feel like you’re at the gym with the comfort and safety of being in you're own home. Our gym was designed around giving rehabilitative treatment to athletes in a fun and safe environment.

On the first floor is the reception and COVID-19 screening area. Where you can buy gatorade, water, Body Armor. When you walk in you will walk up to the large screen thermometer. If you do not have a fever you will go up to the reception desk and check in with your name and email address for contact tracing. On this floor is the American Ninja Warrior course. It starts off with upper body work where you climb across the bars in monkey bar fashion. Next you go up the steep wall and jump into the pool, where you will then swim across. Next is running through the tires. To finish it up you go up the three boxes and jump down. The time to beat is one minute thirty seconds.

On the second floor of the gym there's a pool, a tennis court and a few saunas. The pool has six lanes with glass dividers so you can see the people in the other lanes but you cannot exchange germs with them. The tennis court requires you to bring you're own tennis racquet and you are only allowed to play singles. This makes sure that you do not share any germs with you're opponent. There are four individual sauna rooms with at most two people aloud in at a time. You are only aloud in the sauna with someone who you know and who you are comfortable sharing germs with.

On the third and final floor, there are machines for massages and rehab. There are various automatic machines that make massages COVID-safe. The machines are cleaned after every use and can be controlled by a user using a simple mobile app. There are treadmills, which are covered in plastic, which is changed before every use.
