NIGHT ARTIFACT OUT OF NEON LAMPS
A while ago I made a video explaining neon lamps in detail with some experiments If you have not watched it go watch that first . So it this article we will make simple artifact out of neon lamps which will not only sooth our eyes but just look awesome !!!
So let's get started !!!!
Supplies
NEON LAMPS
ELECTRICAL WIRES
PVC SHEET
HAND SAW
GLUE GUN
HEAT SHRINKING TUBES
150K RESISTORS
SOLDERING IRON
220V 2A plug
SCREW DRIVER
EXPLANATION OF NEON LAMPS
Though neon lamps are history to most of the new generation . There are many areas in which they can be used and are still used in lighting !!! So I have recently uploaded a video which explains about neon lamps . So go watch that first .
WATCH THE ARTIFACT VIDEO
BUILDING THE FRAME
WARNING !!!!!
AC MAINS IS DANGEROUS AND CAN SOMETIMES BE FATAL REPLICATE THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!
So I started with creating the base frame of the artifact . I took my hand saw and slaughter four pieces of 11cm in length and 3 cm in width , to make a square frame out of it .
then I refurbished every piece with a bit of sand paper and a phile !!.Until I was convinced by its quality ..
And glued the frame together !! Except the upper plate .
THE UPPER PLATE
All the magic basically happens in the upper plate i will drill 6 pairs of holes at a distance of around 1.8 cm to divide it equally among the entire plate .
Then took some neon lamps added a 150K resistors to each of them individually But wait we are heading ahead there is no need of power resistors like 1W or 2w BUT INSTEAD A SIMPLE 1/4 RESISTOR is enough . As neon lamps only require a current of about 1 - 2 mA which I talked about in the video explaining the neon lamps . So watch that for all the calculations and better understanding the neon lamps .
MANDATORY HEAT SHRINKING TUBES
After that was done adding heat shrinking tubes are quite mandatory here for short circuit protection . So add heat shrinking tubes in each of the legs of neon lamps or maybe one of them .
CONNECTION
All the neon lamps go in parallel with each other .
The phase of each of them connected in parallel and same applies to the neutral wires .
Then I added a Plug . Unscrewed the casing then the terminal pins added a longer wires instead of shorter ones and closed the casing
And bam !!!!!!!
Now we can light it up !!!!!
ENJOY THE HUE AND SOOTHING LIGHT
