My Reclaimed Materials Bar "The Treehouse Lounge"

The Theehouse Lounge was created with mostly salvaged and reclaimed materials. There are some brackets, plywood, and 2x4s for structure. But quite a bit of it was made from barn and fence wood. The Bar is located in West Seattle, if you're ever in town please stop by and have a drink! Meet the owners Krystal, Jason, and Zac. We are not only a cool tree house themed bar, we are an art bar that encourages creativity and we hold paining classes, live drawing nights, and much more.

Pre-build

Before you get those hands dirty you need to know a few things. Let me first say that if you intend to build your own bar you do so at your own risk of liability. That means you must adhere to your local and federal laws. Now lets say you plan on pimpin' your own basement or garage/barn whatever, into a sexy man-cave/she-shed. Great!

The first thing you should do is figure out what you are putting in it as far as appliances and where they will be placed (blue tape helps). Then hire a licensed electrician and plumber to do what you require unless you are one yourself or just that super macho or have a pretty good mustache/beard.

After you have all that set up it's go time!

Building It Out

Get all of your structural work done. If you can find old beams or ship-lap that's great if not that's okay too. I try to let the materials I found drive the way I build. Do I do vertical slats, mix metal for balance, haring bone, if I have short pieces maybe I stagger them or a mosaic if your a bad-ass. This will require some skill and a lot of tools (not for the beginner). When doing your bar tops or tables, remember that it's all about the prep work.

The Finish Line!

You put a lot of hard work, blood, and sweat into your new salvaged man-cave/she-shed. You deserve a cold one/kool-aid (if your not 21). Sit back, crank some classic rock with those acid washed jeans and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Oh yeah, invite your neighbor buddies to show them exactly how rad you are and where they will loose their clothes/money on poker night!
