The FIXED CNC Engraver!!! (I Fixed It)

This was made from a mini CNC engraver, using a program called VCARVE. I was fixing the school engraver and this was a test run. Its just a small thing that took me like 10 minutes to make with a engraving bit. It was very fun and enjoying. The engraver program was a little messed up, so I was working around with it to fix it, and I ended up on flipping the Z-axis, because when it said it was going up, it actually was going down. The I realized that it was printing backwards. Of Course! So, I went back in flipped it so it would cut right and let her do the magic.

So to design this I used V-CARVE, its very similar to Aspire. Both are sold for a pretty penny, but I used my schools program, I was already familiar with Aspire, so I was right at home.

All I simply did was make a circle, the I was playing around and added a star and decided to top it off with a nice big red juicy cherry on top, or just simply my name.

While doing this I had other test runs, but this was the ONLY one that worked out right, most of the mess ups were because of the machine, (like cutting the bed) but I made one mistake by using a 1/4" bit when I said it was an 1/8" bit. That was my only mess up lol 😂🤣

SORRY!!! I may or may not have forgotten to take pictures of it after I sanded, but don't worry, because it didn't look much different.

I ended up on taking the grit of the sand paper up to 420 because it felt nicer, and on my last lap over it I got a wet paper towel, and dampened the wood and took one more pass, to get that extra smoothness.

So For the staining, I used "American Chestnut". It gave the cherry a darker look that I really liked much better for it, and since it was cut with an engraving bit, the cuts were really this, so it was a little difficult to stain in between them, but in the end I used a paint brush and it turned out very dark.

During this project I had a lot of fun with it, I didn't plan to use it for this contest, but I ended up on entering it, because why not!?!?!
