Mushroom Jewelry Holder

Final Mushroom .jpeg

Hi, do you have jewelry lying around, are they always getting lost? You don't want to accidentally step on an earring you found lying around! Or lose your great grandma's ring that's been passed down from generations. I have a solution, so follow along as I make a mushroom jewelry holder to hold your jewelry.

Supplies

  1. Paint
  2. Paint brushes
  3. Air-Dry clay
  4. Any small tools that will help you work with clay.

Gather Your Materials

The first step is you're going to get some air dry clay, paint, paint brushes, and extra newspaper lying around. You're gonna need a clean table to do this project.

Base

Secondly, you're going to grab a chunk of clay and put it on your newspaper. Then you're going to flatten it out with your hands. You want it to be flattened out till it's about the size of your palm. Make sure that the piece of clay you flatten out, is a circle has to be round or else it'll look strange. This is going to be your base. *The newspaper is to make sure the clay or paint doesn't get the table dirty*

Mushroom Stem

Another step, you're going to take some air dry clay, to make the mushroom's stem. To do this step you're going to have to get some clay and squish it in your hand and make the bottom of it a little fatter than the top. After that it should start looking like a mushroom stem. You are going to want to use your finger or a clay tool to make lines on the stem. (Look at the picture for reference.) The stem is going to be in the middle of the base. You have to score the bottom of the stem, to score all you have to do is make little indents in the clay you can use your fingers, clay tools, or even a pencil. Then, you're going to score where you'll be placing it as well then slowly place the stem on the base.

Mushroom Top

Next, you're going to make the top of the mushroom. For this step, you are going to take a piece of clay and flatten it out like in how you did for the base but the top is going to be a little bit bigger than the base. Then once it's flat you are going to take the sides of the flat circle and fold upwards a little or downwards. (Look at the picture to see how it is done.) Make sure you it doesn't stick on just put the top on the stem for size reference DON'T score it or stick it onto each other.

Paint Stem, Top, and Base

The next step is, you're going to paint the mushroom stem. For the stem, you're going to paint it a light brown to make sure it's coated well. Then you're going to also paint the top of the mushroom a red to make sure it's coated well. Then you're going to take the end of the paint brush and dip it into some white paint and you're going to create white dots on the mushroom top. The base is going to be painted a solid green grass color. Then you are going to score the top of the mushroom stem, and score the top of the mushroom top and put them on top of each other.

Border Around the Base

Then, you're going to need to get some air-dry clay. Mold the air-dry clay into a long rectangle, make it pretty thin. Next, you're gonna wrap the rectangle around the base. Make sure it doesn't overlap. If it doesn't reach itself it is too short to make it a longer till it wraps around the base part but if it overlaps itself then you're going to have to make it shorter. Then, score the bottom of the clay border and score the base and then slowly press them to each other. If there's extra under the base fold it under the base if not don't worry about this part. Once you've done this you're going to paint the border the same green you used to paint the base.
