Museum Artifact Chinese Money-Cat
The following materials are needed in order for the successful creation of the Museum preserved Chinese Money-Cat Artifact
1: 3D printer with PLB as the printing material
2: Laser Cutter
3: Windows 3D viewer
4: An acrylic board
5: CPB and light strips provided in the class
6: Battery Pack
1: Preparation for the Money Cat
The first thing we will do is the money cat design and use 3D printer to print it. Go to Thinginverse.com and look for models of money cat, find the proper design we want to look for, then we will download it, open as an stl file.
Then we will open the stl file, due to the limitation of the 3D printer in our lab, we can not print our cat into one piece, we need to use 3D Viewer to modify our files to optimize the printing effect of the cat.
Open 3D viewer, and the load the object, click edit, then click slice, then we will choose to keep the bottom, then save it to a different file. Meanwhile, we need to keep remembering the coordinates and heights, we will need to repeat this step 3 times, to save 3 different files, repeat the instruction from above.
Then save the 3 files, send it to the laptop in the lab, then use the laptop to load the 3files together and start printing, choose to print without support, the printing process will take up to 12 hours.
Laser Cut the Acrylic Board and Assemble It
Go to makercase.com and customize the size of the box that will be determined by your design. The download it, edit it if necessary, using Adobe Inc Craft, as I managed to put the Chinese banners on the Inc design before I sent it to laser cut. Then the next step is to use the laser cut.
After the laser cut, you will receive 6 boards in total, leave the top cover open, then glue the rest of the pieces together, using super glue.
Then use a red or the marker of the color you like, to color the design, in my case, it's the banners, in which I used red.
Assembling the Product and Finished
The next step is to program the anti-theft process and the sound reactivenss strip. Then after finishing the code, attach the CPB to the batteries, put everything inside. Cut paper tower in pieces and glue them onto the bottom of the box. Then glue the tower and the tress, on the paper towels, for stability.
Finally, put the battery pack inside the MoneyCat, glue the money cat, make sure it's turned on, then place it inside the box, connect the battery to CPB, and place light strips properly around, in your own way you like.
If you feel like decorating more, I cut paper towels into slight pieces and glue part of it on the top so it had a similar look like a clear sky. Then you have a money cat museum artifract.
