I made this project.

This extremely good-looking ornament is one which everyone dreams of having in his/her home to celebrate the festival of lights.

It can be used for home decor during auspicious occasions.

Supplies

Basically we need,

  • Multicolour paper sheet ( red , green, blue , orange etc.)
  • A pair of scissors.
  • A light bulb (tungsten filament type )
  • Electric wires and plug, & offcourse A.C power supply.

Connect the Plug With Wire

Cut identical pieces of papers of different colours as shown in pic. Keep checking it from inside also. It gives you an idea about the symmetry of kandeel. It must look like this from inside.

This is the most time-consuming procedure. Start with patience. It can take upto 3 hours to complete the paper joining procedure

Surprisingly, there is no need of any adhesive or glue. These symmetrical pieces will do the work for you.

  • Start making it.
  • Better if you put different colour pieces adjacent to each other.
  • It will look quite similar to a marshmallow once ready.

Hang the Bulb by Its Canopy

A hanging lantern, or kandeel, can only serve its purpose when it glows from inside during the night. For this, just take a red-coloured light bulb that consumes negligible power and hang it inside this structure. Remember to extrapolate out connecting wires from its canopy. Put a light bulb inside it via top opening and then close the same.

Hang it on your balcony.
