Multi Purpose Storage Box
This is my contribution to the 3D Printed Student Design Challenge. I decided after pondering on what I should make, to design a multi purpose storage box. This box has pen holders on either side, is 4x4x4 inches, has a storage compartment inside with a sticky note holder on the lid. It took me a while to design, however it was fun and I now use it in my day to day life. In compliance with the contest's rules I am required to list my school's name, Cardinal Carter CHS in Ontario, Canada.
Supplies
The supplies I used is a roll of 3d filament, and an Ender 3 printer. Any filament type should work, temperatures will vary from filament to filament, and different printers may have a different build plate size. I used Ultimaker Cura for slicing the STL document. With Ultimaker, you can scale the model by a percentage to suit it to your needs. It also gives a readout of the
My Slicing Parameters
For printing, I used Cura and an Ender 3 to print this box. My infill was set to 20%, 210 degrees Celsius hot end, 60 degrees for my heated build plate, and supports on using PLA filament. PLA is by far the easiest, most cost effective, and most forgiving filament to use with a 3D printer and I highly recommend it to any first timers to the 3D printing community.
STL Files
All the STL files are exported in millimetres and in the .stl format.
Final Product
Overall, I'm quite happy with the finish on this project. There's one thing I would change if I could be bothered, however it's really quite minor so it's not worth the effort. The lid didn't quite fit in the box quite as well as I had planned, however I made a slight change to the STL document to account for this change.
