In this Instructable, I'll guide you through making a vibrant, multi-layered Simpsons-themed desktop decor or wall art using plywood. This fun project brings the iconic characters to life with a laser cutter and some colorful paint. Give it a try and add a pop of personality to your space!

Supplies

MATERIALS:

  1. 3mm thickness plywood2 (30*30cm)
  2. Wood Glue
  3. Acrylic Paint

EQUIPMENT:

  1. 20W NEJE Laser Cutter
  2. Software: Lightburn

This project features a multi-layered design of Simpsons characters, with 3 layers to create a dynamic, 3D effect. For wall mounting, stick to plywood no thicker than 3mm to keep it lightweight. Feel free to scale the design to fit your space or preferences using the Lightburn software.

Laser Cutting

This project involves 3 layers. Once your design file is ready, adjust it to fit the working area of your laser cutter.

Cutting Settings: 500mm/min, 95% power, Air assist on

Engraving Settings: 15000mm/min, 70%power, Air assist off

Coloring

After cutting all layers, it’s time to add color! Use acrylic paint or markers to bring the Simpsons characters to life

The Simpsons will need some basic colors like yellow, white, and brown. For the outside, you can use green.

Assembling

Once the paint dries, assemble the layers in order using wood glue, following the design’s sequence to achieve the 3D effect. Your multi-layered Simpsons masterpiece is now complete!
