Mr. and Miss Instructables
I made a watercolor painting of Mr. and Miss Instructables . I made up Miss Instructables, so he would not be alone any more :)
Supplies
I have used my watercolor paints and soft brushes for this project. Also a spray bottle for activating the paints.
Waterproof marker is good for making black lines.
Tracing and Adjusting an Image
First I have found the reference image of Mr. Instructable, our bellowed yellow robot , then made a copy of him, and flip it - so it looks like they are looking to one another. Then I made a tracing drawing on some paper on my lap top screen. I made HER - Miss Instructables in graphite pencil, by hand. I made a long hair for her, and I did not like it. I change it latter.
I made a copy of this traced and changed image on my watercolor paper - on my window - as the light source. I made changes on her hair on this paper.
Ink Trace
I used black marker thin liner to cover graphite lines on drawing. It is waterproof, so it is not affected by coloring later.
Choosing Colors
I am using graphite drawing to pick the colors for her dress. Since, he is yellow I must find a matching color , and I choose dark pink.
Painting Him With Watercolors
I used wet on wet technique. Wetting paper with water, only - before applying the paint.
Painting Her With Watercolors
I removed the graphite marks from the paper. Then , I have added some colors on her shoes , dress and hair :)
I added a heart shape between them ( maybe I shouldn't do that , because in watercolor less is more ..but I wanted to suggest that love is in the air - so be it )
Finish
In watercolor we need to stand back a few steps from our painting and look at it with the fresh eyes. I made some corrections and my painting is finished.
