Mr Cup Head
Hi,
In this instructable i am going to show you how to make a quick and cheap variation of the classic toy Mr Potato head.
Its a good activity to do with children (and adults enjoy it to if their honest), it doesn't take a lot of tools and materials and can be done in about 10 - 15 mins.
What Need
Materials
a paper cup (plastic lid optional)
some thin card
Tools
Scissors
craft knife
Colouring pens/pencil
Making the Head
If your working with a child you may want to do this bit while they start on the next set.
Using your craft knife cut a vertical slot on opposite sides of the cup. these will be the arm slots.
Turn the cup 90 degrees and cut 3 horizontal slots with about an inch of space between them depending on the size of the cup. these are for the eyes, nose and mouth.
On the base of the cup cut another slot running parallel to what would be the "face". this is for the feet.
Now if you dont have a plastic lid simply draw round the lid of the cup on a bit of card adding two tabs at either side of the circle. remember to make these quite long as they will have to wrap round the lip of the lid.
Also remember to cut a slot that would run parallel to the face for hair/hats/antennae etc
cut a slot just under the lip of the lid running parallel to it so you can slot the tabs in to hold your lid secure.
The Features
On the card start drawing out eyes, noses, mouths, hands, feet, hats, hair whatever you wish. Just remember to draw a tab at the top to attach it to the cup.
colour them in and cut them out.
Have Fun
Once you have cut them all out start making faces.
All the features you aren't using can be stored inside the cup and if you have the plastic lid the sipping slot can be used for the hair etc
as you can see from some of the picture i did this with children and they came up with some great wacky faces.
I hope you enjoyed this instructable and as always thoughts/comments/criticisms and even pictures of your own Mr Cup Heads are welcome in the comments below :)
Enjoy
