Mouse Trap Car
These are the supplies you will need for the mousetrap car. some may not be used but are good to have on hand. You will need a mousetrap, duct tape, two rubber bands, nylon string, different size dowels ranging from an 8th of an inch to 3/8 inch, two slim long boards cut the same sizes, a small tube, a D battery, a short thin board, and one small wheel and two large wheels.
Step Two
drill 1/16 inch hole in front of the two boards and a 3/8 hole 1 inch behind the first hole. Put the according dowels through those holes. Line the small wheel up with the 1/16 and run the dowels through. It should look like what we have posted above.
Step 3
hot glue the small thin board to the back of the mousetrap car leave a one inch gap from the back to the board.
Step 4
take the thin peace of tubing and hot glue it to your back peace of wood.
Step 5
Take one of your large back wheels and connect it to a Dowell that will fit through the tube. taking a small piece of cardboard and putting it against the wheel isn't necessary but suggested for maintaining a straighter wheel.
Step 5
Put the dowel through the piece of tubing. now you have a rotating back axel.
Step 6
now attach a rubber band to the back axle and the 3/8TH dowel positioned behind the front axle with hot glue.
Step 7
then do the same on the other side.
Step 8
then ductape a slim dowels around the mousetrap like seen above.
then attach the mousetrap behind the front wheel.
then attach a string again to inner back axle from the top of the dowels.
Final Step
attach battery to the one inch gap behind axis use hot glue as needed. this acts as counter weight.
Finished Product
to get the mousetrap to move you need to pull the car back spinning the string around the back axle making the rubber band and mousetrap taught. let go of the car on the ground and it should speed forward.
