Mother and Child

I made an origami mother holding her child. I made this for my mom on Mother's Day.

A square piece of paper.

Take the piece of paper.

Bend the paper in half but don't fold it, just make a pinch mark in the center of the paper. It should look like the paper in the second picture.

Bend the bottom edge of the paper to the pinch mark you made in Step 2 and make another pinch mark. Your paper should now look like the paper in the second picture.

Bend the bottom edge of the paper to the pinch mark you made in the previous step and make yet another pinch mark.

Flip the paper over and align the two bottom pinch marks and make another pinch mark.

Flip the paper over again and align the top edge of the page with the pinch mark you made in Step 5 and crease the paper. Then take that same edge and align it with the folded edge and crease the paper. Then unfold the paper.

Rotate the paper and then fold it in half. Then unfold.

Now fold the top and bottom edges to the crease in the center of the page. The unfold.

Fold until the paper looks like the picture. There should be 16 folds.

Rotate the paper and fold the lower fold down and then fold the higher fold up.

This step I can't explain without a video. Repeat the step in the video until it looks like the picture.

Now with the paper perpendicular to the rest of the paper make two inside reverse folds that should look like the picture.

Then grab the two ends of the folds and pull them. They should pull apart. Then push down the center and fold.

Repeat Step 13 once on the same side and twice on the other side.

Repeat this on the top but instead of making two inside reverse folds make three. Remember to pull each of the reverse folds apart and then push them down. You will do this twice.

Repeat this on the other side.
