Mor Kulambu / Buttermilk Gravy
Mor kulambu or Buttermilk gravy is one of the tastiest South Indian dish made with buttermilk and served with rice. Some times vegetables like okra and ash gourd are added to the dish, but here I have made this without adding any vegetables
Beat Curd
- Take one cup of curd and beat it in a mixer grinder
- Transfer this liquid into another bowl
Other Ingredients
For making paste to be mixed with Buttermilk
- One cup of coconut
- Three to four green chilies
- A teaspoon of Cumin seeds
- Half an inch piece of Giner
For tempering
- One teaspoon of Fenugreek seeds
- One teaspoon of Cumin seeds
- Handful of Garlic cloves (Shucked)
- Handful of Curry leaves
Make Paste
- Transfer all ingredients required for the paste to a mixer grinder
- Add little water and make a fine paste
Preparation Step-1
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat
- When the oil is heated, add all ingredients to oil required for tempering
- Stir fry till the ingredients are properly roasted
Add Coconut Paste
- Now add the coconut paste to the pan and cook till raw smell disappears from the mix
Add Buttermilk
- Add the buttermilk to the mix in the pan
- Keep the pan over low flame and do not overcook
- Once the mix comes to a boil, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and remove from stove
- Transfer the Buttermilk gravy to another bowl
Mor kulambu / Buttermilk gravy is served as an additional dish with cooked rice and sambar
