Moon Pastry

These moon pastrys are one of the tastiest snack treat for children.(with out any hot/spicy)The filling is served as a curry sprinkled with chopped Parsley.They  are made with green chillie paste and pepper.Those who prefer to have less spicy hot can subtitute with paprika powder and paste.The taste has a nice garlic aroma.Serve them warm with your favourite sauce.

For the Dough
3 cups water
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tbl sp butter
salt to taste

For the Sauce
1 cup milk
3/4 tbl sp corn flour

Filling
500 gr Chicken
Salt to taste
1/4 Tea sp pepper powder
3 or 4 green chillies
1 large Onion
1/2 Tsp garlic
little bit oil to temper

For the coating
Bread crumbs
1 egg
Oil to fry

Grind & Cut

Before starting to cook prepare garlic,green chillies, onions and chicken by grinding the garlic and green chillies to a paste ,cut the onions in to small cubes and the chicken also in to small pieces.

Cook Chicken

Temper the garlic  in a little bit of  hot oil until it becomes a bit brown in colour and you can smell the garlic aroma ,then throw in the chopped chicken and cook on slow fire.Keep it covered.My chicken pieces look big isn't it? Yes I cut them  too big :(   

Add Onions

Ha! here you see the chicken pieces are smaller.I have cut them again into small pieces.. Half way through cooking process throw in the cubed onions and cook on slow fire until the onions are half done.

Sauce

In the mean time make the white sauce by mixing a little milk and corn flour together ,warm the remaining milk and add the corn flour liquid to the milk and stir a little until it slightly thickens.

Add Sauce

Pour  the sauce  to the chicken,stir,and throw in the  green chillie paste and pepper powder..Cook until the the entire sauce thickens  and the chicken is well cooked.

Dough

Boil the water,add butter ( Now on slow fire) when it is melted add all the  flour at once  and stir very well on slow fire.Let it simmer for a while until  it thickens.Keep stiring.Then knead well with the hand mixer using the kneading hook.

Roll Cut Shape

Roll out the dough,  using a cup or a glass cut  in to small rounds ,keep the chicken filling in the middle and fold into two and press them together.Not necessary to apply egg around the edges to paste.Using your hands  shape them to form a moon  :)

In this step it is great if there is some one to help you.Poor me I had to do it alone .Using a fork slightly mix the egg.With one hand roll the moon pastry in the egg,and tranfer it to the bread crumbs,With the other dry hand coat the moon pastry with the breadcrumbs.
Half way through I had to wash hands to take photos..

Fry

Fry them in hot oil and tranfer to a kitchen tissue.
