Momentary Footswitch

I wanted to have an external 'infinite' switch for my EHX Oceans 11 / Canyon Delay pedal, so I put together this quite simple pedal. Since it is a stereo based pedal I believe it can be used across different digital pedals for as a footswitch/controller.

1x 1590LB Enclosure

1x DPDT Footswitch

1x 1/4" Stereo (TRS) Input Jack

3x Wires

The first step is to drill the enclosure. You only need 2 holes to accommodate the footswitch and jack. You can position these wherever you like but I opted for these to be aligned along the pedals center but I know the JHS red remote has a different design. Note also that I have polished the aluminium to provide a smoother finish that I quite like.

This should be a fairly straightforward soldering process and good practice for a beginner. I have attached a wiring diagram to assist with the instructions. Make sure that you pre-tin the wires before soldering and be careful not to place the soldering iron on any of the surrounding plastic.

Please note, that with this wiring scheme the footswitch will engage a signal when it is pressed making it a momentary footswitch. Finally, screw the back plate of the enclosure and you are ready to test this with your pedal of choice!
