Draw Out Your Design
To draw your design you can use the photo or make up your own design the sky is the limit!
Cut the Pieces
To cut the pieces use a jig saw. It is helpful to drill holes to put the jig saw blade in.
Drill the Bird Hole
To make the bird hole use a hole saw you can use what ever size you want I used a 2" hole saw.
Glue It All Together
To glue it all together I started with the four side walls, then glued the top and the bottom on.
Sealing Time!
Now cover it in varnish! I used a varnish and pecan stain all in one but you can use any varnish.
Roofing Shingles
Now add roofing shingles to the roof! I used them because they look super cool 😎 and they provide some protection from the weather. To attach to the roof use silicone adhesive.
Add Fancy Trim and Perch
I made the perch out of a screw that I cut in half and for the trim around the perch I used a 1" hole saw, attach with wood glue. To make the trim around the bird hole first use a 3" hole saw then take the circle of wood left over and drill a 2" hole in the middle of the 3" circle and for the trim on the roof I used some plywood, attach with wood glue. Don't forget to cover it all in varnish!! I used a clear satin varnish this time.
Design the Plant Pot
To design the plant pot first draw your design out on wood then cut it out with a jig saw.😀
Build the Plant Pot
To build the plant pot use wood glue to attach the side walls. I added an extra little strip of wood to the top of the pot.
Seal the Plant Pot
First cover the hole plant pot in varnish. Then use silicone adhesive to cover the inside of the plant pot. the reason for the silicone is so that when you water your plants your wood doesn't rot.👍 To finish the plant pot use an old bed sheet and line the inside of the plant pot with it.
Stone Time!
Now add the stones on the front of the bird house and on the balcony using PVA glue and I added a little bit of trim at the bottom of the front of the bird house.
Time for Plants!
Now plant some cool plants in the plant pot then sprinkle some more stones around the plants.
It's Done!
You have completed your bird house! Now go put it on a pole and watch as a bird makes a home in it! 😎😎😎👍👍👍
