Mobile Phone Endoscope Adaptor
Hi everybody
Some time ago a doctor came to me searching for a way to upgrade his self made cork adaptor.
The adaptor is needed as a lightweight and cost effective image capturing solution for an endoscope in combination with an old phone. (Especially for medical training)
Instead of looking with one eye, more than one student can look at the shown live video or pictures can be taken and discussed afterwards. There are also industrial solutions for that, but they rely on bigger and more pricy hardware.
Note for the "Make it Glow" contest:
I decided to participate in the light contest, because an endoscope uses a light source to brighten up the viewing area, when looking in our mouth, or when used in surgery.
Because I didn't know if suitable for all viewers I didn't added the pictures, where it is in use to show some medical students the human glottis.

Supplies
- medical endoscope
- old mobile phone
- 3D printer or Lasercutter or CNC mill
Prototyping
Everything started with a premade cork adaptor.
The adaptor was measured and adapted to a new material (PLA).
First try: hole too small and rigid (not able to snap).
After many attempts with different material thickness....
Finished Version
New Version: smaller sides for more flexibility.
Now the endoscope can be easily snapped into the adaptor
If you want to build it. See attached files.
I also attached an alignement tool for Laser cutter or 3d printing.
On this way it is easier to find the right spot to glue it.
