Mobile Personal Valet

IMG_0317.jpeg

My design concept is what I am calling a Mobile Personal Valet.

After my daughter out-grew her stroller, my wife bemoaned not having a place to put her purse, drinks, shopping bags - anything that she didn't want to carry around all day.

My idea is to retro-fit an old fold-up stroller so that it can be used as a valet - whether shopping around the mall or touring at the zoo - to make carrying many miscellaneous items more convenient.

What the Base Stroller Looks Like Folded and Unfolded

This what the base stroller looks like folded. It folds compactly and conveniently and is ideal for my design conversion. This is called an umbrella stroller because it folds-up like an umbrella.

Also pictured is the umbrella stroller unfolded. The Mobile Personal Valet will be attached to this frame and use the seat to bear whatever load you require carried. This particular model (per stroller manufacturer) will bear up to 55 pounds.

Supplies List

Here is a better view of the top closure of the bag and the velcro I used.

Marking Where the Velcro Will Attach to Bag

7.png

Marking where I plan to attach the bag to the frame, using the velcro straps. I marked with duct tape, as I intend to use it to reinforce the areas where the velcro straps will attach the bag to the frame.

Cutting Slits for Velcro Attachment Points

8.png

Cutting 1/2 inch slits in the bag (through the duct tape, marked earlier) which will allow the Velcro straps to pass through.

Reinforcing Attachment Points

9.png

Turning the bag inside/out and reinforcing (with duct tape, again) the back-side of the velcro strips as they pass through the nylon bag.

Bag Attached to Stroller

Nylon bag completely attached to stroller frame using velcro straps.

Re-attaching Stroller Canopy

Re-attaching canopy that came with the stroller.

Could be useful to keep bags and other items dry.

And yes, the nylon bag integrates into the original folding design of the umbrella stroller very well, with no adverse functional impact.

Done. Enjoy.
