Mirror-Man Costume.. for lack of a better, more superish name. Made it in 2 days, not very much needed for this, and was the best halloween costume on my town :D.

Let's get into it.

(If you liked the Mystique Costume, here's the 'ible)

VEEERY easy to get this, you probably have all of them already (except maybe the mirrors):

- Lots and lots of mirrors. Scrap is the best, and you'll probably get the scrap for FREE. The thinner the better.
- 1 jacket. (Leather recommender, if it's fake-artificial leather, even better.)
- 1 jeans, or some other pants. (You do NOT want them to be very tight.)
- Contact Glue/Cement.
- Glass/Mirror cutter.
- Drill or other rotary tool with grinding head. (This is not necessary, you can use sandpaper instead.)

If the jacket or pants are not black, you need to paint them. (Spray paint or dry cleaner's).

Scrap mirror is probably all messed up and shattered, so you need to separate the pieces that are usable. Look at how my costume ended up and you will get an idea of what kind of mirror pieces and what kind of shapes you will need.

Remove all ugly edges, and cut the mirror into geometrical pieces, all shapes, all sizes.

Cut a lot of pieces, and when I say a lot, I mean A WHOLE F***ING LOT.

Grind 'em Up!

Okay boy, now you have a lot of sharp-cutting pieces of mirror in your life... we need to make them "Safety First" approved.

Get your drill or dremel going, if you can clamp them to something to get them secured, even better.

Place all your mirror pieces on a container with LOTS of water. Then take a mirror and grind the edges and sharp points to make them all smooth and soft to the touch. It's a very fast process, no need to over-do it.

If you don't have a drill with grinding head, you can use sanding paper, the one specially used for metal and strong materials.

Gluuee Matiee..

REMEMBER: The jacket and pants need to be BLACK, maybe WHITE if you want. If they are NOT in this color by this step, do it. And dry the mirrors.

You are using contact glue/cement, so you need to read the instructions on how to use it, since different brands have different formulas and thus different dry times, but usually is as follows:

Apply a thin film of glue to the back of the mirror, and other thin film to the part of the pants/jacket where you will be gluing the mirror to. Wait from 2 to 4 minutes and then press the mirror and pants/jacket together. Continue to apply strong pressure for about 1 minute and release, but don't move it.

Continue
to do this until you cover the back and front of both the pants and jacket. My advice is: do the front of the pants, then the front of the jacket, then the back of the pants, then the back of the jacket. This will allow the glue to fully cure and you can turn them over without scary feelings of mirrors falling. This is the most time-consuming part of the entire costume, so brace yourself.

Useful tip: BIG pieces for the parts of the body than DON'T flex. SMALL pieces for the ones that DO.

Head, Hand and Shoes to Go

I made the costume in a complete and crazy RUSH, but the plan was to cover head, hands and shoes with small mirrors too.

You can do this of course, otherwise just do as I did: black hands, white and silver head and hair with sunglasses, and some sneakers. This part will be ALL YOURS to imagine ;).

Wear and Shine!

Ta dá!! YOU.ARE.DONE!

If you were lucky enough to get thin mirrors then you will have no problem, otherwise, if you got thick-ass mirrors like me, then you will be in serious trouble, and don't wear the costume until you are already at the party. My costume weighted almost 85 pounds, and I think I got some muscles after wearing it.

Now... reflect your enemy's worst dreams... and your friend's best nightmares.. MUAHAHAHA.

Have fun!! And have a great day! Take care of yourself and others. :D
