Miniature Wonder: Create a Stunning Book Nook Diorama With This Easy-to-Follow Guide and Template

A book nook is a miniature world that fits into a small space, often inside a bookcase or on a shelf. It can be a fun and creative project for anyone who loves crafting and miniatures. In this instructable, you will learn how to create your own miniature book nook with a diorama using simple materials and some creativity.

• MDF Tissue Box or mdf tray (I got it from itsy bitsy )
• Foam sheets (a3 size- 2 in number)
• Printables printed in colour A4 sheet (Book nook 1.pdf, Book nook 2.pdf and Book nook 3.pdf)
• Glue
• Colour sheet of choice
• Wooden sticks
• Miniature bottles
• Self Hardening Clay or mseal or mouldit
• Scissors or paper cutter
• Shells, brown paper, or anything you would like to add to the miniature

1. Cut out the miniature books from the printables and crease the spine of the book along the lines printed.
2. Place them on single/stacked foam sheets glued together, such that the foam sheets matches the thickness of the book. Mark the size and cut the foam sheets.
3. Glue the foam sheets together and to the insides of the book nook.
4. Your miniature books are now ready.

Cut the ice cream sticks according to your size preference and glue them together making hollow boxes.

Trace the outline of these boxes onto the foam sheet, cut them and paste them onto the sides of the squares. These will be the shelves.

For the walls, cut the colour sheet to the inner size of the tissue box and stick it inside.

1. Cut the design in page 2 of Book nook 2.pdf to length and width of the side walls and stick them.
2. Using the remaining design, cut the paper into strips matching the width of the wooden sticks.
3. Stick them onto the front side of the frame on the sticks , to cover the wooden look. You can skip this step if you prefer the wooden look.
4. Place a few wooden stick cut to pieces at the bottom of the book nook such that, the room has wooden floor.
5. Optional: You can add a carpet as in the second page of Book nook 3.pdf
6. Paste the whole frame onto the tissue box inner walls where you had previously stuck the colour sheets.

• For the news paper, cut and fold the templates in Book nook3.pdf and stack them on top of one another.
• The tiny bottles (could be acquired from keychains or you can skip this step) can be filled with dried flowers, glitter, paper flowers, or anything of your choice.
• For the manuscripts you can cut and roll a shite sheet of paper to size of preference and stick them. Note that the inner ends should be stuck before rolling them so as to give them a spiral look when viewed from the side.
• Using air drying clay or mseal, make tiny potted plants. I rolled them up into a ball, used a pencil to poke a hole for the vase, flattened another piece of clay, cut out drop shaped plants and pasted them once they were dry inside the vase.Similarly you can make other succulent plant miniature and paint them according to your preference
• To make mini parcels, you can grab some clay and make in into a box and then wrap it in some brown paper. I used a 0.05 brustro fine tip pen to write addresses on it.
• You can cut a clock as in Book nook 2.pdf and use the clay to make a protruded border.
• For the wall hangings you can cut the certificates as in Book nook 3. pdf. You can also use a passport size picture of your loved ones and frame them using thin strips of foam paper glued onto the border and stick them to the walls.
• For the false ceiling, you can take white foam sheet cut to the size of the ceiling and use pen caps or palette knife to make desired patterns by pressing them onto the sheet. Bend the sheet to form a curve and stick one side to the top of the ceiling and another to the top of the book shelf. Dab the foam sheet up with some thickwhite paint to give it a texture.

The final step is to arrange everything according to your wish and glue them in place. Be creative with the placement of items, and your book nook will be ready to display. It's a fun and rewarding project that will add a unique touch to your home decor.
