Miniature Garden Ice-Cream Cake
This instructable will show you how to make a miniature garden ice-cream cake.
An instructable that's an art to the gastronomy and a feast to the eyes.
Completion Time: 1 hour
What You'll Need
Main Ingredients:
- A banana cake
- Ice-cream
Tools:
- A bowl
- A scoop
Decoration Ingredients
Ingredients:
- Organic oats
- Chia seeds
- Cocoa powder
- Mixed nuts
- Crackers
- Fruit jellies
The Plants
I use edible herbs which I pick from my herbs garden.
The Glue
I use edible glue made from tapioca starch flour.
The Ground Work
Firstly, I cut the banana cake into cubes.
Then, I put the cubes into the bowl alternating the layers with a few scoop of ice-cream.
Note:
You can add mixed nuts and raisins.
Into the Cold
I stuff it until full and put the bowl in the refrigerator to cool (about 10 minutes) so that when I work on it, the ice-cream wouldn't melt.
Sticky Stuff
To make the glue, I add a little potion of lukewarm water to the tapioca starch and mix it thoroughly until the flour is dissolved.
I mix until the mixture become a glue-like consistency.
The Bench
For making the bench, I use an ice-cream stick and a skewer.
I cut the stick into an inch long for two pieces.
Then, I cut the skewer into 4 pieces (2 pieces in half inch, one piece in an inch and last piece with the pointing skewer).
Note:
You can substitute the ice-cream stick with fettuccine and skewer with spaghetti.
The Glueing of the Bench
Using the edible glue, I glue all the pieces together to form a bench.
The Fence
To make a fence, I use a skewer.
I cut the skewer into two pieces (2 inches long) and five pieces (an inch long each).
The Glueing of the Fence
Using the glue, I stick all pieces to make a fence.
The Curing
Both the bench and the fence need about 20 minutes for the glue to dry.
The Dirt
To mimic the dirt, I use cocoa powder. I spread unevenly on the surface to create earth.
Don't worry if you do leave some cubes exposed because later in the process, you'll cover it with some ingredients from the decoration.
The Mulch
To represent mulch, I use organic oats.
I scatter the oats in one section of the bowl so that later, I will plant the herbs at it.
The Gravels
I use Chia seed to represent the gravels.
I scatter in one area and cluster it in another area (just following my intuition).
The Planting
I use my creativeness in laying out the herbs to mimic living plants (no method in particular).
I cluster the herbs at the half section of the bowl and the other half section I leave it to be decorated later.
The Fence and the Bench
Feel free to put the fence and the bench where ever you desire.
For me, I like to put them near the bunch of herbs especially the bench, I put it near the center of the bowl.
The Decorations
I choose a few crackers that look like a log or a wood and place it near the base of the herbs.
Then, for the rocks, I use nuts.
Next, I use fruit jellies to decorate around the bowl's rim.
