I had a lot of fun making this tiny washbasin intended for a dollhouse (or Mousehouse, in this case). About one inch across at the base, It's just large enough for a little one to bathe in, and can be placed in the kitchen for easy reach when they need to wash the laundry! I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did.

Supplies

Here are the materials I used:

~A bit of tin foil

~Wood glue

~Scissors

~Cardstock (Mine's black)

~Thin string

~Wire cutters

~Paper

~A paperclip

~Optional: Frosted glass spray paint

Cut Out Patterns and Glue on String.

Cut on the lines on the cardstock, (You can print the pattern on) and then cut the string in 2 peices, about 5 inches each. Glue both onto the basin side (The one that looks like a 'C') and trim them like the picture. They should stop far enough from the end that when you roll up the side to fit the bottom, the string won't overlap.

Add Tinfoil

Glue all the cardstock peices onto the tinfoil, (String side down, for the sides of the basin) and cut around the edges, leaving about a centimeter on all sides. Immediately turn over the 'C' to tin side up, and using the end of a paintbrush, pen, or any other dull stick you have on hand, rub the tinfoil into the cracks around and between the string, pressing it in.

More Tinfoil

Then glue the other side onto the tinfoil, and trim leaving a space on one end, and a tab the size of the space on the other. The tab and the space should both be the size of the space you left with the string. But the tab should be on the side of the space with the string.

Glue It Into Shape

Glue one end of the C overlapping onto the other. Then glue the bottom circle into it. It won't go all the way down to the the end of the tinfoil, but will to the end of the cardstock inbetween.

Gluing Tabs

I popped the basin onto the top of a glue stick, and glued down the extra tinfoil on the bottom. Glue the bottom onto the tinfoil again, and cut around the edge. Then glue the tabs on the top edge into the inside of the basin.

More Tinfoil Indoors...

Cut out the C again, this time from normal paper. Glue it onto tinfoil, cut around it, leaving excess around. then cut the edge into tabs, and fold + glue them onto the back of the paper.

Glue That In.

Curl up that part, shiny side in, and glue it into the basin, covering up all the tabs inside.

Edging

IMG_6092.jpg

Cut a thin strip of tinfoil, and glue it around the outside top edge, half on, half off. Go all the way around, trim off the extra. Fold the top into the inside and glue it.

Handle Holders

See the two tiny cardstock rectangles? Glue em on to some tinfoil, and cut round the edge. (Always leave extra.) Glue the side edges into the middle. then glue bits of tinfoil over the cardstock that remains showing. Mold both these peices over toothpicks, and crease this way.

Handle Formation

Form the paperclip into some tiny handles, using pliers and/or wire cutters.

Handles

IMG_6104.jpg

Pop the handles into the things you just made, and glue them shut. Glue them onto the sides of the basin, and your done! Unless you don't want it as shiny, in which case....

Frosted Metal.

If you don't like the basin as shiny, you can spray it with frosted glass spray paint and tone it down a bit. Otherwise, I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and are happy with the result!
