This is a 3d printable, small (about 8cm cubed) tensegrity table

Supplies

  • 4 parts printed from the attached STL files,
  • strong thread
  • glue (like epoxy resin or anything that works well with 3D Print PLA)

3d Printing

  • There are 2 .stl files attached, you need to use a slicer program (like Cura) to slice these filees ready for 3d print
  • Build density of about 60% is enough
  • Print each of the files twice
  • Trim any excess material that blocks the holes in the prints

Gluing the Parts

  • Glue one of the arms into one of the square bale pieces so that the arm points inwards and the hole at the top of the arm is roughly above the centre of the square
  • Repeat for the other 2 pieces
  • Give the glue time to set properly before proceeding

Final Assembley

  • Take the strong thread and create a loop that connects the 2 arms so that they are about 1 inch (1.6cm) apart. Tie those ends together
  • take a second piece of the strong thread and feed it up and down throguh the corners of the table so that the tension pulls the 2 squares together but that is opposed by the thread on the 2 arms
  • tie off this second piece of thread.
  • You might want to dab some glue on the 8 corners so that the thread doesnt slip around the structure
  • Its done! and hopefully should look like the main photo
