Mini Star Scrapbook

Have you ever wanted to make a scrapbook but weren’t sure if you would enjoy it? Well, this is a very simple and quick way to start out. When completed the book can sit on a table while open and be in the shape of a star while looking from the top. The book is a great gift for friends or family members as well as a good talking piece. This is a fun project for beginning crafters.

Disclaimer: Use caution when using either the paper trimmer or craft knife as they will be sharp.

• Cardstock both patterned or solid in color
• Six pieces measuring 11 1/2" by 5 3/4" for the back pieces
• Six pieces measuring 9" by 5 3/4" for the middle pieces
• Six pieces measuring 8" by 5 3/4" for the front pieces
• Two pieces measuring 5 1/2" by 5 1/2" for the front and back cover panels
• Cardstock can be found at Wal-Mart and craft stores such as Hobby Lobby and Michael's for a more varied selection. Craft stores sell cardstock in individual sheets and packs ranging from .25 a sheet to $5+ for the packs.
• You will need to get the 12" by 12" sheets for this project. Make sure that some of the pages used are cardstock and not all paper stock, as the cardstock is a thicker material and will help the album stand up better.
• Two lengths of ribbon to tie the album together, giving it the star shape
• You can find it at craft stores and even Wal-Mart for $1+
• Paper trimmer or a craft knife and metal ruler
• Paper trimmers can be found at Wal-Mart for about $11+ or craft stores Hobby Lobby or Michael's for about the same price.
• Craft knives can be found at Wal-Mart and craft stores Hobby Lobby and Michael's, ranging from $5-$10 depending on the brand and where you buy it.
• Metal rulers can be found at Wal-Mart as well as Hobby Lobby and Michael's for about $5
• Double-sided tape or Crafters tape
• Double-sided tape can be found at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Wal-Mart for about $5+ although I would suggest getting the multiple packs as this project uses quite a bit of the adhesive.
• Embellishments or stickers (up to crafters' discretion)
• Can be found at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or Wal-Mart and range in price from $1+ depending on what you select
• Photos (not shown on my project for privacy purposes)
• Scissors

1. Trim six pieces of cardstock or patterned paper measuring 11 1/2" by 5 3/4" for the back pieces.
2. Trim six pieces of cardstock or patterned paper measuring 9" by 5 3/4" for the middle pieces.
3. Trim six pieces of cardstock or patterned paper measuring 8" by 5 3/4" for the front pieces.
4. Trim two pieces of cardstock measuring 5 1/2" by 5 1/2" for the front and back cover panels.

Fold each of the Front, Middle, and Back pieces.

DO NOT fold the two pieces for the front and back cover panels.

Embellish the front pages with pictures, stickers, or any other embellishments you prefer before assembling the pages.

Add one strip of double-sided tape or crafter's tape to the outer edge on both the right and left sides of the back piece.

Carefully adhere the middle sheet to the back piece and press firmly on the edges where the tape connects the two pages.

Add one strip of double-sided tape or crafter's tape to the outer edge on both the right and left sides of the middle piece.

Carefully adhere the front sheet to the back/middle part of the page you made in step 5.

Repeat steps four through seven for the five remaining page sets. You will then have all six pages completed and ready to adhere to one another, as pictured above.

When all six pages are assembled, add tape around the edge and diagonally down the backside of the page. Adhere this back page to the backside of the next page.

Adhere all six pages together. Make sure you DO NOT stick the front cover to the back cover; we still have the ribbon and front and back panels to connect.

Cut ribbon to the desired length.

Add a small strip of tape on both the back and front covers. It works best for the adhesive in the middle of the book for the ribbon, although if you wanted to have two strips of ribbon on each cover, that works as well.

Add tape to front and back panels to cover ribbons ends.

Center Front and Back Panels on the book to cover the ribbon ends.

Add embellishments or pictures to the front cover to complete your project.

Open it up and view your masterpiece.
