Mini Squiggle Light

I wanted to make an inexpensive decorative light with supplies I had at home or that could be inexpensively purchased at a discount or dollar store.

Supplies
• LED (any color)
• Ping pong (table tennis) ball
• LR44/AG13 button cell batteries (2)
• Thin wire, 6 inches
• Switch or button (must have constant "on" signal)
• Hot glue, 5-6 mini sticks
• Solder
• Cold Water
• Thread or string for hanging
• Electrical tape

Tools
• Hot glue gun
• Soldering iron
• Small glass or metal bowl
• Scissors

Use scissors to slit ping pong ball along seam. Then, following the seam, cut around the ping pong ball so you have two equal halves. Next, in one of the halves, cut a hole in the center the size of your switch. Make sure the hole is big enough to turn the switch on/off.

Solder two 1 and 1/2 inch pieces of wire to switch on opposite sides. Then, carefully hot glue the switch into the hole as shown.

Using electrical tape, tape the batteries together. Then solder the batteries to one of the switch wires. Solder the LED to the other switch wire. Then, solder batteries and LED together. Make sure you have the correct side of the LED wired, or it will not work.

With batteries and LED inside, place halves of ping pong ball together, and zig zag hot glue across the seam.

Fill bowl half full of cold water. Drizzle hot glue on top of the water to make 1-2 inch squiggly designs, approximately 20. (See picture.) (Don't touch the hot glue gun on the water!)
Remove designs from water and dry with a towel.

Hot glue the string or thread to the top of the ping pong ball opposite the switch. Then glue the edge of a design to the ping pong ball. Repeat until covered. You may fold larger designs to attach as desired. Be sure to leave space around the switch so you can still turn it on.
