Mini Lighthouse Lamp 2
Hi All,
Few months back I had made my first version for Mini Lighthouse Lamp, I faced few challenges, and wanted to improved my design and making process by
- Using PVA glue, It takes more time, but the bond is better
- Using small Glass jar, so no more cutting
- Enhance pebbles texture painting
- Recycle items that are easily avaliable at home
In this instructables, I have improved all of the above... Hope you like it
What Do We Need ?
Material
- Pringle box (Empty it, if full)
- Small Hexagonal Glass Jar
- 4 mm MDF Sheet
- Bamboo Skewers
- LED Strip
- LED Driver
- Wires
- PVA Glue / Fevicol
- Pebbles
- Acrylic Paint and brush
- Popsicle stick
Tools
- Dremel
- JigSaw
- Sandpaper
Prepare
- Before we start, we need to sort pebbles
- I have sorted into 3 stacks :
- Flat and thin upto 2 mm thickness
- Long, Flat and Thin upto 3 or 4 MM thickness
- Rest
- We will use flat and thin pebbles as bricks
- And Long pebbles as frames for doors and windows
- Cover the pringle box with a brown paper or any other color of your choice
- Let it dry for 30 minutes
Tower
- To build the tower, start with doors and windows frame
- Then fill the space in between using flat and thin pebbles
- Once the whole box is done, leave it to dry for 5 to 6 hours
- Add doors using popsicle stick
Base Roof
- Measure the outer diameter of the glass rar (neck) and pringle box with pebbles
- We want to cut a ring from MDF, with inner diameter same as glass jar's neck and outer diameter little more than the pringle box
- Add cardboard at the inner diameter and cover it with the another ring of mdf sheet
- Add 6 skewers as shown
Roof
- I have used a hexagonal glass jar, so added 10mm to the length of one side
- Then made ad hexagonal prism as shown
- I secured the edges with paper tape and glued the roof from inside
- Let it dry for 1 hr and then remove paper tape
Electric Work
- Since I am using a small glass Jar that fits on a pringle box, i cannot fit a regular size bulb,
- I must make my own mini LED bulb.
- I am using 2 LED strip / elements that I have stuck on a 15 mm PVC pipe
- Each element has 3 LEDs and a register
- These LED elements are connected to a led driver circuit (12V)
- Test the circuit before final assembly
Paint Job
- Tower
- Based coat with black acrylic paint, and let it dry for 1 hour
- Mix 3 parts of white ad 1 part black on a pallet, do not add water
- using a sponge cover all pebbles, Note that we want the gaps to remain black and pebbles as grey
- Once done let it dry for 1 hr
- After drying make a black watery wash and cover the whole tower
- Leave to to dry
- Base / Roof
- Paint everything brown or a shade of light brown, to simulate wood colo
Admire
- Once done, Set the lamp in the corner and light it up
- Admire great work done
