Mini House Design

I made a mini house design. I did this design to make a mid century modern inspired home with wood accents. I wanted to make a mini home that I would like to live in.
Supplies
I used foam board, balsam wood pieces, balsam wood sticks, wood glue, hot glue, black paint, brown paint.

I started with cutting the foam board to 4 equal sized pieces. Through this process I tried to figure out how to make this house architecturally interesting. I then decided to make the roof slanted, therefore I re-cut a piece to be 4 inches taller then the other three to add depth to the project. After that I cut the sides out I cut out the roof so that it would cover the home completely.

After cutting the pieces out I used hot glue to glue every piece of the foam board together. I then noticed that there was a gap at the top of the home. I decided to make this into a window.

After everything was glued together I started to cut balsam wood pieces to sides. I was lucky enough to have a 3 inch wide piece of wood so only two pieces where required for all sides. I attached this using hot glue.

After making the siding I started to work on the top window. I started doing this by measuring 3.5 inch intervals to glue them evenly on both sides. I used wood glue for this process.

I then added on a visually pleasing window pane to both sides so that the windows would look intentional and match the architecture style I was trying to achieve. I once again used wood glue to attach these elements.

I then decided how I wanted to paint my project. I put some brown paint into a cup added water and created a stain like substance. With this I used a paint brush to put it onto the wood. I painted with the grain to keep the details of the balsam wood. I did this on all parts of the siding.

I then decided on what roof design I wanted to use. I hot glued two pieces of balsam wood onto the foam board. After this I painted it black to give the design a more cohesive feel.

I then started to add a window to the side of the home. I decided to first paint the area black to add depth. I then started to add parts of the window onto the siding. I started with the sides and middle pane. I attached this using wood glue.

I then added more decorative panes to match the top windows of the project. I did this by using wood glue.

I then painted a door shape onto the front of the project outlined it in balsam stick and attached them by wood glue. I then went to the window at the top of the home and painted the panes black to match the roof better.
