Instead of starting with melting the wax, why did I start with this topic?

Because after melting your wax, you should need to pour it into a mold. But, where is your mold?

Most of the creator use aluminum mold for making candle that cost some money which we can't afford at all. In such case we looks for alternatives where I found paperboard as a solution.

How I made it?

Step 1: Make a small trapezium and cut multiple pieces of it from the paperboard.

Step 2: Attach those pieces in the form of a chain using a tape. Here the number of trapezium attached will decides the shape of the mold

i.e, 3 trapezium = Triangle

4 trapezium = Square, Rhombus

Step 3: Stick it on to a surface and glue it.

Thus your custom DIY mold is ready!

In my case I have made some shapes like Triangle, Square and Hexagon.

Measuring and Melting

Measure the amount of candle wax you want according to the size of your mold.

Melt you candle wax at 200°F. After melting it you can add a small drop of fragrance of your choice.

Also in order to make it colorful, add some color pigments. If you are not having the color pigment you can use wax crayon as an alternative.

Pouring the Melted Wax Into the Mold

Before pouring the wax into the mold, Make a small hole at the center of the mold to place the wick. Here I have used a cotton thread and as alternative you can use small wooden piece or even a small piece of cloth as a wick.

After placing the wick, pour the wax into the mold.

If you wish to create a multicolored candle their are many ways like pouring colored wax layer by layer or you can do it in such a way by pouring different colors at different sides.

Let It Dry!

Now comes the hard part, Leave the candle to dry completely. Although it is a mini candle, it took about 1 hour to dry.

Smoothening the Candle

After removing it from the mold, their would be some slight imperfections like cracks in the edge, rough surface, etc which is removed with the help of a blade.

Lights Up!
