With so many more people working from home it's time to keep your cords looking organized and cute with these tiny fruit slices! Easy and no sewing required. If you don’t have a snap fastener you can also use velcro or punch a hole and tie with a string.

Keep in mind these faux leather fruits are mini so the cords that they can contain are limited. You also don’t have to make tiny cord holders. You can make these fruit slices any size and for whatever purpose you need. Attach to a hair tie, sew onto a jacket, turn into earrings, velcro to your bag… be creative! If your kids are home this could be a fun project to keep them busy while you work! If you do this, maybe opt for a fabric glue instead of E6000.

Supplies

  • Faux leather sheets*
  • Scissors
  • E6000 glue
  • Snaps
  • Snap fastener
  • Pen or pencil
  • Cookie cutters or other round objects to trace

*As with most things in life, you can get these on Amazon with lots of options to choose from!

Trace

Trace circles onto the back of your faux leather.

For the orange slice you’ll need 3 circles in 3 different sizes.

  • 1 large in orange
  • 1 slightly smaller in white
  • 1 smaller than the white in orange

Cut

Cut out your circles. Take the smallest circle and cut it in half. Cut each of those halves in half. Cut those pieces in half one more time. Now you have the triangles for your fruit slice!

Snap

Add a snap to each side of your large circle. Be sure to fold your fruit before adding the second snap to make sure they align.

Glue

Glue the medium circle onto the large circle so that it covers your snaps. Then glue on your triangles. I used culinary tweezers because otherwise my tiny triangle pieces would be a mess.

You can also glue the triangles on first before attaching to the large circle but if your circle isn't big enough to cover the snaps and you need to cut a new one, then you have to re-glue the triangles too. You can also choose to let your snaps show if you'd like!

After 10-15 minutes check your edges and use a toothpick to apply extra glue to any areas that are lifted. Let the glue dry for 24 hours before folding your fruit.

Additional Fruit

You can download this illustrative guide as inspiration for other fruits to make! For seeds or spots I recommend just using a permanent marker and drawing straight onto the faux leather after you’ve glued everything together. Be sure to let dry completely so as not to smudge it!
