Mini Eiffel Tower USB Lamp

IMG_5396.jpeg

I received a mini Eiffel Tower as a gift. I imagined what it would look like lit up, like a lamp. So I made a circuit with LEDs and a USB cable, and voilà!

Supplies

  1. Miniature Eiffel Tower Ornament
  2. High brightness LED
  3. 220 ohm resistor
  4. DC Power Jack Socket Connector 3.5*0.7MM
  5. USB to DC Power Cable Cord 3.5x0.7
  6. Conductive line
  7. Electrical tape
  8. Soldering iron
  9. Hot glue

Solder one of the LED pins to the resistor, then the other end of the resistor to one of the wires of the conductive line. Then solder it to the DC jack pin. Solder the other wire of the conductive line to the other LED pin and the other end to the other DC jack pin. Check the polarity of the LED and the DC jack. The positive terminal of the LED should be connected to the positive terminal (center terminal of the jack) and the negative terminal to the negative terminal (end terminal of the jack).

After soldering the components, you can cover the LED with tape to protect the terminals, leaving the glowing part of the LED uncovered, as shown in the image.

Now place the LED inside the tower, carefully pushing it until it's securely in place at the top. Then, find a hole in the base large enough for the cable to pass through to the jack.

After everything is in place, now all that's left is to secure the jack with hot glue and test it by connecting the USB cable to a power source.
