Mini DOR-15 Made From a Mr. Potato Head Hat (Mark 1)

Someone I know is fanatic of DOR-15 (or DORIS), the evil robo-hat from the "Meet the Robinsons" movie. So, this is my first attempt for making one. This is a vibrobot made with the hat of a Mr. Potato Head. When I find a bigger hat, I will try to make a walker one.

Materials

MATERIALS:

1 Mr. Potato Head hat
1 cap from a phone horn
1 camera len (I use one from a damaged security camera)
6 butterfly clips (I use 8 because I want an octopod Mini DOR-15)
1 toy motor
1 Playstation joystick motor eccentric weight (or you can make your own eccentric weight using a plastic or metallic piece)
1 Big red LED.
1 switch
2 LR1 batteries
1 LR1 batteries holder
2 iron pieces
red and black wire
screws and bolts
Tin soldering

TOOLS

Dremel Rotary Tool
tweezers
screwdivers
scalpel
pliers
Wire cutters
Screwdriver kit
Soldering Iron
Super Glue


And don't forget the classic building rules (plus one):

1. If you don't have it, replace it!
2. Use protective equipment (dust mask and goggles)
3. Beware of drilled and soldered hot surfaces
4. Work in a good ventilated area.
5. Always have junk in stock.
6. Enjoy.

The Hat

Dismantle the damaged security camera. We need the len.

Open a hole in the front of the hat and insert the len. It has to fit by pressure. Use superglue if it doesn't fit exactly.

Bend the clips on the way indicated on the pictures and insert them in the phone cap. Open new holes if necessary.

Fasten the clips using screws and bolts.

Open an entry on the front of the cap for accommodating the len of the hat.

Open a holeon the phone cap. It will be for the switch.

Insert the big red LED into the len. Solder wires and a 220ohm resistor.

Attach the eccentric weight to the motor.

Attach the motor and the batteries to the central screw. Use the iron pieces.

Connect the motor wires to the LED and batteries (remember: red wire = +, black wire = -)

Test the motor spin and put together the hat and the cap.
