Mini Card Box

IMG_0237 (1).jpg

I have a small collection of tiny playing cards that I used to take with me everywhere. I don't really play cards anymore and lost the boxes that I normally had the cards stored in so I decided to design and cut out a card box to store them in.

Supplies

  1. 12 x 12 3mm plywood
  2. wood glue

Laser tools

  1. Muse Titan

Design Your Box

my box design would hold up to four mini decks of cards and was stained in this wood like color. To add some of my personality to it I added the logos of some of my favorite shows as a child and the logo of a mobile game that I play. But was only given one 12 x 12 piece of 3 mm wood so I had to design this box in a way that would fit the piece of wood that I was given, so I used the site, festi.boxes.py, to create my box design and ended up with a box design that had a height of 38 mm and a width of 48 mm with the finger joints edge width being 6.0 and the spacing between the joints being 2.0. These settings were what allowed me to finally find a design that barely fit inside the box. then downloaded a file of the design and exported it on the software RetinaEngrave after setting the laser type as Muse Titan, since that was the laser that I could use.

The pieces to make the box took about 30 minutes to cut with the settings for the laser being around 60 percent power and 100 percent speed when cutting the pieces and around 60 percent and about 80 percent power and 100 percent speed when cutting the engravings into the wood.

After the pieces finished being cut out, I used some wood glue to put the box together, let it dry for a day and my box was finished after that.
