This instuctable is about a simple, cheap and a small bluetooth speaker. I am a very big fan of miniature functional things. I bought both the modules for around 100 (around 1.3 dollar) and every other things used in this project is free, and remenber asthetics is very important part of miniature project so it wiil we our top priority.

Supplies

  • Scarap piece of wood
  • small speakers (mine salvaged from old smartphone)
  • a usb cable
  • a small matal piece
  • some cloth
  • a led and the resistor (100 ohm)
  • epoxy
  • wood working tools (for making holes and cutting the wood, file)
  • cheap chineese bluetooth and amplifier combo (3 watt) www.amazon.in/bluetooth (this link is from amazon.in you can get the same from your local or other site)

The Wooden Encloser

Take the wood and cut into small strips two of 30x14, the other two 38x14 and the back plate of 34x26 mm (thickness for all parts is 2mm). Glue these four strips to gether to create a box and put the back plate at one face of it. The final dimension of the box should be around 30x14x28 mm.

I have alse cut some holes at the back and on one side og the box and filled them with epoxy so the led can shine throungh it. The led shines in diff colour.

The Electronics

Connect every thing as the circuit diagram shows, using the 5V and Gnd from the usb cable, to identify gnd and power wire in data cable connect it to charger of port on pc and use multimeter to find 5v b/w two wires.

I also have added a small ceremic cap b/w 5V and Gnd.

The Face of the Speaker

For the face take the metal plate and two holes for the two speaker (if possible use speaker with its built in enclose as they are better tuned for that, i have only one with its enclose). Connect the speaker wires to the amplifier and on the front side of the face plate glue the cloth to give it more of a finished look.

Now put every thing together and glue the whole encloser together.

The Result

For better finish i send the wood and do some cutting of the cloth (i have applied two layer of cloth in front, the first layer was more transparent) and finally oiled the wood for more contrast and Yeah its complete here.

As the performance is considerd, since the output power of amp is high then the speaker power so at full volume the diaphram started to hit the speaker walls and the output become distorted, but for songs that aren't base heavy, more of vocals, the output at full volume is quite good, and since the speakers are from the smarphone the sound have quality. At 75% vol i was getting the best result for every type of song.
