Mini Blowdart Gun

A mini hand held blow dart gun made from a pen/straw, shoelace/hoodie string tip, and a needle/safetypin/etc., Easy to make, fun to use and something to do when bored. The dart goes surprisingly far and even plucks into cement a little. There's probably still a dart high up on the concrete wall of my eleventh grade english class from like 6 years ago, haha. Distance is surprisingly far. You can find all the materials laying around, and complete this in less than five minutes. No real purpose of making this however. I've seen similar designs on here, but nothing like mine. This is a dangerous weapon and I don't recommend building one. If you do caution should be excersized and this should never be pointed in even the general direction of humans and animals. If you do build this do it at you own risk and don't hold me responsible, blah blah. Have fun!

Materials

The first thing you must do is gather the required materials. You should have everything already, and many items can be substituted. You need 1. Straw or empty hollowed pen, 2. Tip from a shoelace or the tip from a hooded sweatshirt string, 3. Sewing needle, safetypin or something similar with a sharp point. Once you have your materials it's on to the assembly. For this example I am using a straw from a fast food place, a tip from a shoelace off an old pair of delta forces, and a sewing needle.

Dart Assembly

The next thing we must do is assemble the dart. This is a very easy procedure. Take the piece of shoelace you cut off, and cut it off about 1/4 of an inch back from where the plastic ends and the lace begins. Once you have done this fray the lace part of tip by pulling it apart and such until it looks like the picture. After you have done this you must attach the needle. If you are using a safety pin cut it so it looks like a needle. Stick the pointy part into the frayed part of the dart. Then push it all he way through until the pointy part sticks out the other side. Be careful not to poke yourself while doing this. It helps to push it against a table to get the needle through. Your dart is now assembled!

Final Preperation

You're just about ready to fire it now! Stick the dart you just made into the straw pointy side first. Make sure the frayed part is all the way in the straw and not exposed. Now aim and fire!
