Millennium Falcon With Interior- Tinkercad

Hi there! This is a model I have worked on for the past few months and wanted to show you guys the process of designing this. If you don't know what this is about already, it is a Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. But, the special thing about it is that it has an interior space also. It took a lot of work designing this thing and a lot of time and effort. This was mainly designed in a 3D design software called TinkerCad. Hope you enjoy!

PS: This project is still a work in progress. It will continue to improve as time goes by (And when I get a chance...)

Supplies

The only supplies you will need is an electronic device, a Tinkercad account, and some reference photos!

The Ship

The main part of this model is the ship. And if you know anything about the Millenium Falcon, its that it is a hunk of junk. There are so many tiny details, which are hard to achieve in a simple software. So, I used partly TinkerCad, and partly Fusion 360 to make this. I originally made it hollow, and when I decided to do the project, cut it open. It took a lot of time cutting it so that it would fit as perfect as possible. But, I finally manged to do it. That was the main step to starting this project. It has a lot of small details. And I think it turned out pretty well.

The Inspiration

One day, I was scrolling through the Internet and I found a 3d file for a Millenium Falcon with a fully, detailed interior on Gambody.com. And I was looking at prices for making this thing, and it was just too expensive. It made sense why though. It had everything you would find in that ship. I wanted to create something similar, but where it was free for everyone to download. And, that's what made me start this project.

The Interior

The interior was far more easier than the ship itself. I found a video from Jared Owen, who showed the interior of the Millenium Falcon. And, that was my reference photo. In the video, it showed the main aspects of the Millenium Falcon, and what is inside of it. The video showed the hyper drive system, the cargo holds, the hallways, the kitchen, etc. I tried my best do put as much detail into the model as I could. I put cargo, the hyper drive sytem, and some ther details. This is not a finished model, so it does not have all the details. I will put all the details in soon.

The Hyper Drive

The hyper drive was somewhat hard to make. But, with reference photos, it was much easier than I thought. The back portion of the hyper drive system were made with some simple shapes, which were duplicated in a half-circular shape. The rest was also pretty easy, except for the top of the small generator, which I found on Thingiverse. My favorite part about this portion is the translucent hyper drove generator, and the ornage piping going from one machine to the next. Overall, this part was kind of hard, and took probably the most time in the interior, but I think it turned out pretty well.

The Cargo Area's

The cargo area's were pretty simple. As seen in the movies, the Millenium Falcon is a type of ship meant to haul cargo. And, even though most of the movies don't show it actually transporting it, it is still present. You can sometimes see big boxes and crates laying inside the ship. So, I just used some rectangular prisms and cut some holes in it to look like crates. And, I also added some barrels to add some different looks. Overall, this portion wasn't very exciting, but it does add some detail.

The Main Area

This part was pretty fun to create. One of the iconic scenes from Star Wars is when C3PO is playing on the holochess table, which I tried to replicate on the model. I also added a couch, which isn't truly accurate, but still works. Also, there is more cargo in this particular area, which I added, so there wouldn't be so much empty space. Another thing which I really wanted to add was the main control station. This portion has a chair, which I found on TinkerCad, and the screen. I haven't finished the screen yet, so it doesn't look like much for now. But, after I add more buttons on the screen, it will look better. Overall, I liked how this portion turned out, and I am looking forward to adding more details later on.

The Turret Area

You might be looking at this area of the ship and be thinking that it looks pretty similar to the hyper drive system. And it is. I used the same technique to make this portion also. The generator section of this area is pretty much the same as the one in the hyper drive system, only it's in a different arrangement. So, this part of the model was fairly simple to build. I had to change the walls of the ship a lot just to get space for the turret acess ladder to fit. It took a lot of time and shapes just to get the wall right. I am working on the walls to be more accurate, but that could take some time. Overall, I think the generators look really good and add a lot of detail to the ship itself.

The Rest Area

r.PNG.png
This part might have been the simplest part of the ship yet. All it basically is a rest area, with a couple of bed and some cargo. I don't necessarily hate this part b of the ship, it's just that it's not the best looking thing. I tried to get as accurate as I could with the beds. I used the extra space to put some more cargo in. Overal, it's not the prettiest looking thing, but still looks fine.

The Piping

This part did take some time. I wanted to use the idea of piping from the Gambody model, and somehow apply it to my model. Before I had piping, I had solid walls, which seemed pretty boring to me. It just didn't look detailed enough. So, I decided to add piping in those sections, to make it a bit more detailed. And it wasn't as hard as I thought. In the parts where the walls was a weird shape, I just kept copYying and pasting pipes, and cutting the edges so it would look like it fit. Overall, I think it was a good desicion by me and I honestly think it turned out well.

It's Finished!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of creating this model. It took a lot of time and effort, and I hope people will enjoy looking at this model. Please leave any tips or ideas in the comments below. I am looking forward to adding more detail when I have time. I also hope that this inspires you to make your own projects using 3d design. Thanks for reading this Instructable. May the Force be with You!
