Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table (with Wood Veneer Drawers))

I had a family friend gift me two large art storage cabinets from his Antique Map store and decided I wanted to turn one into a coffee table! I wanted it to better fit my aesthetic so I decided to add a nice walnut stained wood veneer to the drawers and give it some matching feet :)

Spray Paint (I used an identical color match mainly to cover up dings)

Because the drawers were in good shape and I liked the color, I found a match color of spray paint to touch up a few chipped spots on the cabinet. I removed the drawers and got to painting. I then used a clear coat spray on to seal in the new paint. This will ensure protection and keep the finish easy to maintain.

The cabinet had great hardware, but I just felt it would be too plain as solid metal. I decided adding a wood veneer to the drawers would be an awesome touch. I first measured the drawers. I then my 1/4" plywood to size making sure I made additional ones in case I liked the grain pattern better on some.

I then stained all the veneer pieces and wooden feet with a walnut finish. I predrilled holes for my hardware, coated one side with rubber cement, and adhered my veneer pieces. I then placed on the hardware to secure the veneer for drying. Repeat for all 6 drawers.

I found some great premade feet at home depot for a pretty reasonable price. I stained them to match, drilled holes in my frame, and attached with nuts.

My coffee table is done and ready to enjoy! Its also great for storing my own art in :) The wood veneer is so cool and I get lots of compliments on the piece!
