Microbit Bike Indicator Glove

For this Instructable we used a warm builders' glove and some old plastic downpipe. The pipe was left over from a job we had done at home.

Marking Out the Notches So That the Microbit Was Held Securely in the Tube.

We used a chalk marker to draw cutouts for the board to sit into. These were cut out with the rotary tool.

The chalk marker was used to mark holes for stitching the tube to the back of the glove.

The Battery Pack and Top Ring to Secure the Board and Lens Cover.

We used a small ring of pipe to fit ontop of the board and then insulation tape to seal the 2 layers and make them waterproof. The lens cover was made from some clear plastic.

Coding the Microbit

It took a few tries to get this right, I used an accelerometer reading at first but then found the Input block with multiples of Gravitational force, the 6g condition worked perfectly and wouldn't be set off by jolts whilst cycling. A flick of the arm when I am indicating activates the system. As you can see it uses a simple repeat 10x loop with a sound output to remind me it's working. The video shows the indicator in action.

I would like to make this system brighter and my dad and I are going to try with some brighter LEDs (not the ones on the matrix). I will be posting an improved version when it's done.
