What you´ll need:

A measuring tape

A Knitting hook size 8mm

Yarn, lots of it

A needle for yarn

Step 2: Measures

First you need to take your measures, you want

this tale to be especially for you, so grab your measuring tape.

First you need to measure your chest, then the length from your chest to your hips, then the size of your hips, including your butt, and the length from your hips to the tip of your toe, and the size of your ankles together.

Choose the biggest size, it can be the chest size or the hips, and that will be our starting point.

Step 3: Chains

On the 21cm row you will do a slip stich to join both ends, and knit as many rounds as you need to get to the measure of your torso.

Remember on each round you need to do a slip stich to keep the cocoon shape.

NOTE: You need to count each stich, and make sure you have the same amount of stiches as in the beginning.

Step 5:

When you get to your torso length, find the middle point of your cocoon, and on each side make a half double crochet decrease, so you will have 2 stitches less than when you started.

Knit 3 rows, and on row 4 make a half double crochet decrease on each side of the cocoon, that till you get to your hip to toe length.

Step 6: Close the Cocoon

Now it´s time to make the mermaid fin.

For this you will start with 30 stitches, make a chain to turn, and make one double crochet decrease, then on each stitch make a double crochet, by the end of this row you will have 29 stitches.

On the next row you will make the double crochet decrease on the last stitch. (By the end of this row you will have 28 stiches).

Repeat this till you get to 20 stitches, which will be the center of the fin.

NOTE: you´ll have to work all the rows on BLO (the back loop only).

On the next row, make a chain to turn, and on
the firs stitch make a double crochet increase. (By the end of this row you´ll have 21 stiches).

On the next row you will make the double crochet increase in the final stitch. (By the end of this row you´ll have 22 stiches).

Repeat this till you get to 30 stitches.

When you do the knot on last stitch make sure to leave a large piece of yarn.

NOTE: you´ll have to work all the rows on BLO (the back loop only).

Step 8: Get the Fin As Wide As the Bottom of the Cocoon

The top of the fin now will be gathered to match up the bottom of the cocoon.

For this you will insert the needle on the ending yarn of the fin, and sew only the top of the fin, then pull the yarn to gather the fin till it gets as wide as the bottom of the cocoon, and make a knot.

Step 9: Sew the Fin With the Cocoon
