Memory Card Wallet

Over the years, I have accumulated several types of memory cards for cameras and cell phones, and I have way too many of them. Unfortunately, they are all small sized cards, which means that if I am going to take a lot of pictures, then I have to bring all of them along. This becomes annoying, especially if I don't have a safe place to keep them all. So I decided to make a wallet to keep them all in to make my life easier. I hope it makes yours easier too.

The Materials

What you will need:
-Tag-board or cardboard ( I cut up an old box for this as you will see)
-Felt (several pieces, check a local craft store)
-Staples
-Duct tape

What you will use:
-Scissors
-Stapler
-Ruler

Cutting the Cardboard

Use the marker and the ruler to measure out a rectangle on the cardboard that is 4 in. by 8 in. Then Cut it out with the scissors. When you are done, find the middle, and fold the cardboard in half across the long edge.

Sizing the Felt

Place half of the cardboard on the felt, and trace its outline. Cut it out with a pair of scissors.

Attaching the Felt

Attach the felt piece you cut out to the cardboard you sized it with. To do this, staple the corners and edges of the felt to the cardboard.

Other Half

Do the same thing to the other half of the cardboard. Size the felt and attach it in the same way.

Tape!

Use the duct tape to cover the outside of the cardboard (this helps weatherproof it), and put duct tape in the center of the "wallet." Be sure to cover the staples in the edges with tape by curving tape over the edge of the cardboard and sticking it over the staples.

Arrange Your Wallet

One great thing about making your own case it that you can organize it how you wish.
Cut your second piece of felt into strips that fit within the wallet. These will be "sleeves"  that hold your memory cards in place. You can be creative here and make your own arrangements. Attach these pieces of felt by stapling them in place. Be sure to measure them so the memory cards fit!

Stash Your Memory Cards

Place your memory cards in the wallet sleeves and you are done. Add this to your photography kit and never be without enough digital storage!
