Mask Making
I tried to make a mask , having some Japanese history.
Supplies
Clay, clay tools, newspaper ,water, primer, watercolors, masking tape, a pencil, a mesh cloth, small cloth.
Making the Base Ready
Now take the newspaper and fold, a mold into a small semi circle or bowl shape. And tape it down to the table with masking tape, so that it don't move.
And then to side take the clay and spread uniformly on the cloth by using your hands, so that it do not stick to the floor. Make a round circle with that clay, remember it should not become very thin.
Put the clay on the newspaper bowl you made added with a mesh cloth on the bottom of the clay and cut of the extra parts (if any) by using the thread or even the clay tools.
Adding the Details
Then we add details to the mask , first mark the parts that need to be cut out with a pencil lightly on the mask.
Then start making the rolls, small but not to thin so that it do not break .
Attach the rolls by use of a little water on the marked lines earlier. Also add the rolls to the sides of the eyes and mouth.
And then slowly cut of the parts that are marked with the help of the clay tools and smoothen the edges a little.
Then by using a clay tool, just drag or spread the edges of the rolls on to the mask so they won't fall of when dried.
Painting
Then just let it dry of nearly a week , so it strong enough.
Now first apply the primer on it to get good and strong coloring effect.
Let primer dry for 20min and then start to paint the mask as seen the picture>
Here I used normal watercolours but you can even use acrylic paints , for betterment.
Display
Now make a stand of the poly sheets and by using the super glue. Make sure that it is long enough to your mask.
Place it on the stand and your mask is ready for the display.
U can even use varnish on top of painted mask , for shiny appearance.
