Marshmellow Cannon

IMG-6409.JPG

I decided to make a pressurized marshmallow cannon that is able to launch a marshmallow to around 50 feet. It is very simple to use, all you do is pump it up to about 100-120 PSI and then put in your marshmallow, turn the knob and it launches, it works best if you try to turn the knob fast so that all of the pressure is released at once.

Supplies

I went to home depot and found everything I needed except the replacement tire valve. All the items you need to make this are:

One 12 inch long 1/2 inch nipple

One 1/2 inch ball valve with threaded ends

Three half inch close nipples

Two 1/2 inch threaded elbows

One 2-inch to 1/2-inch threaded reducer

One 2-inch coupler

One 2-inch cap

PVC Purple Primer

PVC Cement

Teflon (Plumbers) tape

2 inches of 1/2-inch PVC pipe

8 inches of 2-inch PVC pipe

Then I went to AutoZone and got a

Tire replacement valve for a .453 rim hole

Step 2: Get It All Put Together

You are going to need to add the Teflon (plumbers) tape, to every threaded end to insure that the seal stays air tight. You also need to add the purple primer to each part of the PVC pipe that will be attached, after you add the primer, you also need to add the PVC cement to insure that it is air tight. You are going to need to drill a hole in the cap that is approximately .453 inches to get the tire replacement valve into, once you have the valve in place, you can use super glue to insure it stays and is air tight.

Step 3: Check for Air Leaks and Test

In order to be sure that there is no leaking in the cannon, you can add water down the barrel, and fill it all the way up, if water comes out then there is a leak and you will have to find a solution, but If there is no leaks you are all good to start testing. To test the cannon you pump it up to around 100-120 PSI add your marshmallow ammunition, turn the knob and watch it fly!
