Marble Climber

Hello! I made this Marble Climber, which is a fun and fairly simple project to make! I had been experimenting for some time to make a mechanism which pushes marbles back up a parkour and this is what I came up with.

Most materials are recycled (cardboard, plastic bottle) and the rest you proabably have lying around!

Supplies

  1. Cardboard!!!
  2. Toilet role
  3. Plastic bottle, diameter 4,5 cm
  4. Hot glue gun
  5. Wire
  6. Wood skewer
  7. Paint (optional)
  8. Craft knife

First, make a circle using a compass, with diameter 4 cm. Next start sketching out your spiral. Remember the space in between the cardboard should not become too big, otherwise the marble will fall through. Lastly cut it out using a craft knife.

  1. Make two identical circles with diameter 4,5 cm.
  2. Sketch the pusher and cut it out using a craft knife. You can see the measurements in the picture.
  3. Make a hole in the centre of all of the parts.
  4. Take your wood skewer, poke the pusher through and add some hot glue, so it doesnt move anymore.
  5. Take your plastic bottle and cut a tube around 7 cm wide.
  6. Assembly:
  7. Secure your first circle in place using hot glue.
  8. Poke the skewer, with the pusher attached, through the hole of circle 1.
  9. Glue the second circle in place.
  10. Cut two big holes in the first circle, for the marble to pass through.

  1. Make your base: I used a big piece of cardboard of 20 x 25 cm.
  2. Secure the climber using hot glue.
  3. Make the two metal bars, with a length of 10 cm.
  4. Make the little support bar for the spiral, length 5 cm.
  5. Attach the first bar to the climber.
  6. Secure the support bar in place using hot glue.
  7. Glue the spiral in place:
  8. Attach it to the support bar
  9. Attach it to the toiltet roll, and glue the toilet role to the base
  10. Make the support piece for the second bar: 4 x 2,5 cm.
  11. Glue the bar on first, and then glue it onto the base, under the hole of the spiral.

Finishing Touches

Decorate your marble climber! For example, I painted the climber blue and added stripes to the spiral and supports. I also added some arrows to the climber.
