Maple Manhattan

This is a variation on the classic Manhattan that introduces maple syrup and swaps black walnut bitters in place of the classic angostura.

Step 1: Ingredients

You will need:

Ingredients
Rye whiskey (but if you want to use bourbon, I won't tell anyone)
Maple syrup
Sweet vermouth
Cherries to garnish (I'm using sour cherries)
Black Walnut bitters

Equipment:
Cocktail shaker
Glass (I like a coupe glass)
Ice
Toothpick (for garnish, if necessary)

Step 2: Measure and Mix

Measure:

1 part syrup
1 part sweet vermouth
5 parts rye
1 - 3 dashes of Black Walnut bitters

Fill the shaker with ice. Add the ingredients. Shake until the shaker is frosted over.

Step 3: Pour, Garnish and Enjoy!

Strain the drink into your glass, add the cherries and enjoy!
