Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

IMG146.jpg
Pancakes are something of a Saturday morning tradition in our family. However, I am not always content to make just plain old pancakes. I like to experiment with ingredients and sometimes I come up with successes (and sometimes spectacular fails).

This one I came up with recently that my wife and daughter happened to really, really love.

So please, enjoy!

Ingredients.

For this recipe, you will need:

1 Cup Bisquick (or your own home version of Bisquick)

1/4 Cup all-purpose flour

2 1.5 oz. packets of instant oatmeal (maple/brown sugar flovor, of course!)

1/2 tsp. almond extract

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

1 Tbsp. sugar (yes, I know I forgot to put it in the picture)

1 egg

1 Cup water

Mix It.

Combine all of your ingredients and mix well. You are wanting to achieve a well incorporated texture.

Cook!

Heat your skillet or griddle to medium (either 5-6 if your top is electric or when water drops sizzle on the surface of your pan)

Use your preferred cooking oil to grease your pan (I used unsalted butter)

Drop approximately 1/4 cup onto your skillet and allow to cook for 2-3 minutes a side.

Flip and repeat.

Remove them from the skillet and top them however you like. Then of course, enjoy!

Note: If you have ever cooked pancakes before, you will know when it's time to flip by the bubbles that form in the batter.

This recipe will yield about 5-6 pancakes, depending on how large you make them.
