Manrope Knot Whisk Broom

The manrope knot (a..k.a wall and crown knot} is a decorative stopper knot tied at the end of a 2 or 4 strand rope.

I am showing three separate cords to show how the knot is tied.

I used 3 strands of sisal cord to make the whisk broom.

I will use the soft cotton brush shown being made in the instructable as a keyboard brush.

I started with three strands and tied a constrictor knot about 4" from the left hand end.

If you are using one rope tie a constrictor knot and unlay the rope to. this point.

Tie a wall knot, - each strand goes under the neighboring strand

Above this tie a crown knot - Each strand comes out of the crown knot directly above a neighboring wall knot.

Each strand in this 3 strand example parallels itself around the knot going under a wall bight and under a crown bight

Take strand A under the wall bight.

And under the crown.bight.

Do the same thing with the second strand.

And with the third.

Now the three strands must be pulled through the knot.

Bring a hemostat (needle nose pliers) under a crossing point and bring the corrersponding strand through.

Do the same with the second strand.

And with the remaining strand. Tighten.

Now comes the very tedious part. Unlay each strand.

And begin to comb out to separate all the strands. This will take a long time and is very tedious.
