Mal's Spell Book- Disney Descendants

My family recently watched the Disney Descendants franchise, and I became fascinated with the world of the VK's and Auradon. I love the crazy colors and the VK's punk style, and with only four days to the close of the fandom contest, I decided to choose an easy prop from the line-up and roll with it. So, with out further ado..... Mal's Spell Book!

A piece of cardboard- The size depends on how big you want your book to be, mine is 21 in by 11 in

Brown construction paper- I needed about three pieces

Glue

Oil pastels or paint of some kind- if you want to get super fancy you can use clay to raise up the dragon and the corners, but I currently don't have any so.... if you want to do that, you're on your own. Sorry :(

Sticky Jewels

First take your construction paper and crumple it to give the book texture, then if you are smart (unlike me) you will draw your design on to the cover. The title says Mal's Spell Book, but really this method can be used for any book.

This is the basic body of book (obviously) from here you could go anywhere.

Take the crumpled paper and glue it to the back of the cardboard. For the binding you can cut the paper to size or, you can be lazy like me and just fold it. :) I think that it looks more like an actual book when it's folded, but that might be my ego talking.

Now this is the FUN part. GLITZ!

Smart people (AKA not me :P) will have drawn their design already, but if you didn't now is the time! I free-handed my dragon, so I don't have a template for ya'll, sorry. After you are satisfied with the design, color it in, I used oil pastels. If you want to be authentic you would mold clay onto the cover and paint it gold. Unfortunately, I didn't have clay, gold paint, or the skill necessary to do that.

After coloring, I found some sticky jewels leftover from a different project and used them on the corners. The ones on the movie prop are green, but again, my supplies are limited. /sigh

YAY!!! You are done!! My book will be a loose leaf notebook paper holder, if you can figure out a way to keep it from falling out I would love to hear your thoughts!

My finished product is 9" by 11" Yours can be bigger or smaller your preference.

Go take over Auradon!! :)
