Makita Drill Aviation Plug Mod
How to stick an aviation plug to the side of a wireless Makita drill with two component glue.
The aviation plug attached to the drill (Makita 6271DWPE) is an M16 16mm 3 pin screw type aviation connector. The M12 version would probably be a better fit and easier to attach because of the smaller size.
Disassemble the Cordless Drill
Unscrew the drill carefully (9 screws) and take note of how the components are placed inside the drill. Otherwise it can be difficult to get the two halves to click back in place during reassembly.
Remove Engine and Speed Control
Remove the engine and the trigger switch with speed control from the casing.
Solder Wiring and Attach Aviation Socket
Drill a hole in the side of the drill. Solder a cable on the aviation socket and solder the other side of the cable on the inside of the drill.
Use some two-component glue (5 minutes to dry or longer) to position the wire and socket so they're held in place.
Next let a larger glob of two-component glue dry for a bit (stirring helps to speed up the drying process) and use it to spread a thick layer over the socket. Don't forget to check the viscosity of the glue during stirring regularly, especially if the glue is intended to harden within 5 minutes. It can easily dry too fast and become unusable.
To protect the cable against damage add a thin layer of glue on top of the cable as well.
Reassemble
Place all components as shown in the picture and reassemble. If you're trying to figure out how to place the leaf spring watch ReplacementsParts.com instructional video Hammer Drill Repair - Replacing the Leaf Spring: https://youtu.be/IwGtvyU26AU?t=111
